Questions

Your questions, answered plainly.

Prices, contracts, hours, inductions and how to come and see it. Every answer is the same one you’ll find on the page it belongs to.

If yours isn’t here, request a call back or book a tour and ask on the way round.

Choosing a space

Which of the workshops and studios is yours.

Which space is right for me?

If you make products, prototypes or parts, the makerspace. If you make jewellery, the jewellery workshop. If you make furniture for a living, the woodwork shop. If you run a business that designs, plans or builds and needs a room of its own, a studio. Not sure? Book a tour and walk through all of them.

Do I need to be a professional?

No. Hone is for people making a living from what they make, and people on their way there. Professional means how you work, not how long you’ve been doing it. The entry tiers welcome people starting out; the woodwork benches and the studios keep a working edge.

Can I use more than one workshop?

Yes. Bench members use every workshop across our buildings after an induction. Studio tenants use the machine shops at member rates. Hot Maker members use the makerspace, with its metalwork and woodwork bench.

Do people stay long?

Most members stay for years, and some have been here since we opened in 2018. Studio tenants tend to stay longest, and it’s why woodwork benches rarely come up.

Can Hot Maker members use the woodwork machine shops?

Bench members can, after induction, along with every workshop across our buildings. Hot Maker members use the makerspace, which has its own woodwork bench: hand tools, a chop saw, sanders and a small bandsaw.

Can jewellery bench members use the makerspace and the woodwork shop?

Bench members use both sites and every workshop across our buildings, after an induction on anything with a blade or a bed.

Can studio tenants use the workshops?

Studio tenants get member rates on the machine shops, the dance studios and the photography studios. Every machine needs an induction first.

Can Tottenham tenants use the workshops in Limehouse?

Studio tenants get member rates on the machine shops, the dance studios and the photography studios. Every machine needs an induction first.

Who are the Tottenham studios for?
